2014 Poppy Series
Northern California and Nevada ladies came together in 2013 to create the first ever women's disc golf tour, the Poppy Series. This tour is created to encourage the ladies in this area to expand their travels to come compete against other ladies in this area. Overall we had a total of 6 TDs (plus 1 Co-TD) for 5 events, 109 players -17 Pro, 31 Am1, 13 Am Masters, 6 Am Grandmasters, 20 Intermediate, and 22 Recreational players.
The Poppy Series continues in 2014 with the addition of Co-Ed events to fit the needs/requests of disc golfing families. We are offering Poppy Series Points at some of our California events that our ladies told us they want to play and making it easier for those families that play together can stay together. Each of the TDs at these events will pay/charge a player fee for each women/girl who plays. This will help our finals and contribute to trophies prizes ect. financially.
This year, there will be 5 women-only events along with 4 Co-Ed events that women can participate in to gain Poppy Points. 6 of the 9 tournaments will be PDGA sanctioned, and King of the Lake will be upgraded to an PDGA A-tier event. Last year, 5 points were awarded per round played, and at the Finals (Monarch Migration) we gave out 10pts per round played; We will do the same this year. Our finals at Monarch will award the most points at 10 points per round.
Like last year, the more events you play in, the more points you will accumulate, and of course, more friends and fun you will have! Mark these events on your schedule, and we hope to see you on the fairways!
